Genelec And RØDE Sponsor MPG Awards Categories

Genelec and RØDE, in conjunction with their UK distributor Source Distribution acted as category sponsors of the annual Music Producers Guild Awards at the Café de Paris in Central London – hosted by BBC 6 Music presenter Lauren Laverne.
The MPG Awards recognise and celebrate British talent in music production, and are awarded in categories covering the entire spectrum of the music production process: from A&R to recording, mixing to mastering, to the greatest studios and in recognition of the industries' unsung heroes.
With the room filled to capacity with some of the UK’s leading recording industry figures, this year saw Sir George Martin receive a standing ovation as he received the Outstanding Contribution to British Music award. The RØDE-sponsored category of Recording Engineer of the Year went to Al O'Connell, receiving his award with unmistakeable candour from Duran Duran collaborator and friend Mark Ronson. The Breakthrough Engineer of the Year Award, again sponsored by Genelec, saw Florence and the Machine's "You've Got the Love" producer Charlie Hugall take the prize, presented by 2012-winner Tom Morris.
Finally, the Brit-Award Sponsored UK Producer of the Year Award went to "Skyfall" theme producer and writer Paul Epworth, who adds a Damien Hirst-designed Brit Award to a host of accolades won during his astonishingly successful year.
