'White Dress' Adds To Award Collection

Short film 'The White Dress', directed by Vanessa Gildea and funded by Bord Scannán na hÉireann/Irish Film Board (IFB) scooped 'The Jameson Best Short Film Award' at the Belfast Film Festival on Sunday 1 April.
The film also won the Stella Artois Award for the Best Irish Short at the 19th Seagate Foyle Film Festival. Produced by David Lawless of Brazen Films, the piece tells the story of a little girl on her Holy Communion day. The film has already received a Special Recommendation in the Irish short film category at the Kerry Film Festival 2006.
The project was produced under the IFB backed scheme Short Shorts which encourages the making of ultra short Irish films and fosters new talent within the industry. The next series of Short Shorts will premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh in July 2007.
The short screened recently at Cinequest in California and The Chicago Irish Film Festival and is due to screen shortly at the Dresden Film Festival and the Britspotting festival in Germany.
