OmniTek Eyes Up Broadcasters at NAB 2007

OmniTek will be demonstrating a range of new features for its award-winning products on booth SL9705 at NAB.
Updates include: A high-performance eye pattern and jitter analysis module for the TQ, XR, and LAB waveform monitors; comprehensive Dolby E metadata and enhanced audio PPM monitoring options for the TQ and XR; and full CEA-708-B closed-caption decoding capabilities with XML data logging for TQ, XR, and LAB.
The new eye and jitter module has been designed for compatibility with all the current and emerging serial digital video formats, and provides a wide range of analysis capabilities including high-resolution colour-mapped eye diagrams, FFT jitter spectrum analysis, cable length and jitter waveform displays.
OmniTek's Managing Director Mike Hodson said: "Our new eye and jitter module provides the kind of market-leading features that the broadcast industry has come to expect from OmniTek. Once again we are taking the technology to a new level, in order to provide our customers with measurement performance that is unmatched in the industry."
The TQ and XR high-resolution waveform monitors benefit from a comprehensive upgrade to all the audio analysis options. The metering displays have been significantly enhanced to include support for a wide range of different ballistics and graticules, such as the various Scandinavian options, BBC, and EBU specifications. Comprehensive Dolby–E metadata analysis has been integrated into the system, including a unique A/V lip-sync delay measurement facility working on the raw Dolby E data streams. Multi-channel external AES-EBU audio inputs and outputs are also now fully supported.
To assist North American broadcasters with compliance monitoring, a full CEA-708-B closed-caption decoding package is available as an option on the XR, TQ and LAB monitors. This package checks the validity of all the 708 data embedded in an SDI signal, and also offers the capability of saving the data packets to a time-stamped XML file. This package complements the existing CEA-608-B "line 21" and World System Teletext caption decoders that are already present in the OmniTek systems.
"The range and precision of our audio and closed-caption monitoring capabilities now far exceeds that which is normally expected of traditional waveform monitors," Hodson continues. "Our design team has been working closely with major broadcasters in the USA and Europe, in order to tailor the audio and closed-caption monitoring options precisely to the needs of the industry."
Hodson said: "Whatever the application: broadcast, post-production, transmission, or video R&D, there is an OmniTek product tailored to suit the customer's exact needs. And with the new feature line-up for NAB 2007, we believe that in every aspect of video and audio signal monitoring, the OmniTek system provides the most advanced, flexible, and easy-to-use features available anywhere in the world."
