OmniTek Announce '708' Closed Caption Monitoring Module

Test and measurement manufacturer OmniTek have announced the launch of a new decoding package for CEA-708-B closed caption data services, which will be demonstrated for the first time at NAB.
The new package will be available as an option on the OmniTek XR, TQ, and LAB advanced waveform monitors, and provides broadcasters with a comprehensive analysis of the content and legality of 708 data embedded in serial digital video streams.
"This new 708 decoder package has been specifically designed to assist broadcasters with checking the validity of their closed caption data," confirms Richard Davies, software manager of OmniTek. "We have implemented a full range of real-time decode and display facilities, and we also provide the capability of capturing the packet data to XML files for off-line analysis." OmniTek has been working closely with world leading broadcasters in order to optimize the capabilities of the 708 decoder package.
The 708 decoder software is the latest addition to the comprehensive range of monitoring and analysis functions provided by OmniTek equipment. CEA-608-B "line 21" caption decode is already fully supported, and OmniTek systems also provide decoding of World System Teletext caption data.
