OmniTek Shows Dolby E Metadata Solution At NAB
OmniTek has launched its new Dolby E monitoring and metadata decoding package, which was demonstrated for the first time at NAB on booth SL 9705.
The new analysis package will be available as an option on the high-performance XR and TQ waveform monitors, and provides broadcast engineers with a comprehensive display of the PPM meters and other metadata parameters contained in Dolby E data streams.
"This new package performs a complete decode of the Dolby E metadata, to give an unprecedented level of information to video engineers," said Roger Fawcett, Business Director of OmniTek. "We are also providing an extremely useful A/V lip-sync delay measurement capability for video with embedded Dolby E audio, which we believe is a totally unique feature in the market."
The capabilities of the Dolby E metadata package have allowed OmniTek to become a certified Dolby Partner.
The Dolby E metadata package is accompanied at NAB 2007 by the release of a wide range of improved audio functions on the TQ and XR waveform monitors. The metering displays have been dramatically enhanced to include support for a wide range of different ballistics and graticules, such as the various Scandinavian options, BBC, and EBU specifications. Multi-channel external AES-EBU audio inputs and outputs are also now fully supported.
"The range and precision of our audio monitoring capabilities now far exceeds that which is normally expected of a traditional waveform monitor," Fawcett added. "Our design team has been working closely with major broadcasters in Europe and the USA, in order to tailor the audio monitoring options precisely to the needs of the industry."
OmniTek is an innovative test and measurement company formed in 2001, specialising in the development of video analysis equipment for SD, HD and digital cinema applications.
