ATG Broadcast Complete Farm Upgrade

ATG Broadcast has completed a major technical upgrade for The Farm, one of Britain's most successful post production companies.
Based in Soho Square, London, The Farm provides a wide range of facilities including high definition post production for feature films and television, digital post production for television, commercials, music promos and DVD encoding.
The project is the latest in a series of installations planned and performed by ATG Broadcast for the Farm Group in recent years.
"We wanted a unified device controller to replace a multiplicity of equipment panels in the second-floor Edit 2 post production suite," explained The Farm's Head of Engineering, Anthony Kirkland. "The system designed and installed by ATG Broadcast allows all routing and monitoring to be switched and adjusted via a single touch-screen panel. The result is an uncluttered yet extremely powerful suite with correspondingly greater productivity. Maintenance is also much easier as the equipment itself is remoted to our central technical area where it can be serviced without interrupting activity in the edit suite."
Equipment installed by ATG Broadcast at The Farm in the course of the Edit 2 project included an Avid Symphony Nitris video editing system, Pro-Bel Axis HD router under Morpheus control, AES audio routing, plus an Eyeheight legalEyes legaliser and safeEyes cage generator.
In addition to the Sony Grade 1 edit monitor, client monitoring includes both 46 and 26 inch Sony Bravia LCD panels. An Audient ASP510 multichannel audio monitoring was also installed. A Tektronix HD-SDI rasteriser with Dolby E decoder is used for signal monitoring. Trilogy HD sync pulse generators were fitted in the basement CTA, producing comprehensive SD and HD reference pulses for distribution throughout the building.
"The shift from hardware-based to GUI-based system control looks unstoppable," adds ATG Broadcast proposals manager Alastair MacDonald. "Modern GUI-based device control is very reliable and far easier to use than the old panel-per-product solutions. And, of course, training times are greatly reduced."
