ATG Broadcast to create production village for BBC Broadcast

One of Europe's leading systems integrators, ATG Broadcast, has been selected to design and build a fully digital production village within BBC Broadcast's new Broadcast Centre.
The village will enable the creative team to post-produce high quality television graphics and on-air promotions on-site quickly and cost-effectively. The integrated digital production village, due to open in January 2004, will consist of 35 browse stations, six self-operating edit suites, six craft edit suites, a captioning suite, two dubbing suites and two voice-over booths. Ingest stations located around the building use Omnibus Ingest clients to digitise all required media into multiple Quantel sQ Servers.
Quantel-generated proxy copies of the digitised content are then accessible from the QCut Browse and edit stations where projects can be completed to a simple level. Complex editing or finishing of simple projects can be achieved in either six QEdit self-op edit suites or six craft QEdit suites. Finished edits are exported to the AMS Neve dubbing suites as an AAF audio file with Quicktime video proxy, and a Gallery Virtual VTR under AMS Neve control provides proxy replay.
