Red Kite Takes To The Skies With Best Short Film Award

Red Kite Animation has won the award for best mobile short film at this year’s Talent Circle Super Shorts Film Festival.
The winning entry, ‘The Imp’ is the first animation to feature the voices of both Stephen Mangan and Julian Rhind-Tutt, stars of Channel 4’s Green Wing.
Animated short, 'The Imp' was voted as the best film suited for phones and handheld devices at the festival by a panel of judges and by people who voted by text to download each of the entries.
A pure unsullied black and white 3D comedy show packed with high calorie evil, The Imp is a light-hearted take at trying to square a career, in this case creating hell on earth, with family and domestic life.
The Imp series is currently being broadcast by the Disney Channel in Japan and Cartoon Network in the US. Red Kite is in discussions with broadcasters and mobile content providers to broadcast The Imp series in the UK.
Ken Anderson, Managing Director, Red Kite was delighted by the win: “We have been overwhelmed by the response we’ve had for The Imp from fans across the globe. I’m pleased the Imp has won this award and I hope that we will be able to bring the exploits of the Imp to a new fan base in the UK.”
Now in its third year, the Talent Circle Super Shorts Film Festival uses traditional and non-traditional venues to screen independently made short films created by emerging and established film-makers alike. The panel of judges this year featured many esteemed industry experts from around the country, including:
  • Irvin Kershner
  • Tony Klinger
  • Owen Purcell
  • Lars Branvall
The Imp was created by Andy Fielding, produced by Sueann Smith and directed by Andy Janes and Wayne Thomas. It was executive produced by Ken Anderson for Red Kite Animation.
Established in 1997 by director Rachel Bevan Baker and producer Ken Anderson, Red Kite is one of Scotland’s most innovative screen animation companies. Based in Edinburgh, with a reputation for creative flair, imagination and originality, Red Kite has produced a significant body of work, including short films, TV series and commercials – many of which have gone on to win awards.
