Time Out Celebrates London On Screen
Over 30 classic London films will screen in 20 venues across London throughout September 2006 as part a special season, Time Out London on Screen, backed by Film London and The Mayor of London.
From 'Blow Up' to 'Bullet Boy', the selected films represent the very best of film-making in London from across the decades and feature work from a range of world-class directors including Michael Powell, Alfred Hitchcock, Horace Ové, Roman Polanski and many more. The month-long season will be complemented with a range of special events and filmmaker Q&As.
Adrian Wootton, CEO of Film London commented: “London on Screen is testament to how the capital has inspired such a vast range of truly memorable films. The season highlights how cinema reflects and shapes the identity of the capital and offers Londoners the chance to see some wonderful stories from their city, on the big screen.”
Dave Calhoun, Film Editor of Time Out added: “It’s not unusual to see London used as a backdrop but it’s much rarer to see a film which has fully embraced the city as a theme ripe for serious cinematic investigation. It is these films, based on Time Out’s Top 50 London Films revealed last year, that have been selected for Time Out London on Screen, each delivering a vision of London that, like the city itself, is unique.”
