NTL AIM TO CLOSE GAP ON BSKYB
NTL, the UK’s no.1 cable Television company, has approached pay-TV service ONdigital with the intention of forming a marketing alliance to close the gap on BSKYB.
Ntl is proposing to bundle its TV Internet and telephone services with the ONdigital TV channels outside its cable franchise areas. The service would use the Microsoft Corporation set-top boxes in production for ntl.
Ntl has 230,000 customers whilst BSKYB, which started offering its Skydigital satellite service in 1998 to compete with cable companies and ONdigital, has 3.6 million digital-satellite TV subscribers.
