NTL LAUNCH DIGITAL SERVICE IN IRELAND

One of Ireland's leading entertainment and communications companies, ntl, have launched their digital cable television service offering outstanding value, choice and quality.
The new service will be available initially to 140,000 homes by the end of September in Dublin, Galway and Waterford, offering a total of 73 channels as well as superior picture and sound quality. ntl plans to expand availability of the service to an additional 10,000 homes per month.
ntl television customers living in upgraded digital areas can opt for the new Go Digital package, which offers 35 additional channels for £10 per month including a digital set-top box. The Go Digital package offers a wide range of channels covering news, documentaries, entertainment, music, children's programmes, movies and sports. An additional 23 channels (add-on / premium) are available on a subscription basis. The Go Digital package is compatible with all television sets.
Speaking at the launch of ntl's digital TV package, Brian Moore, Managing Director, ntlIreland said: "We are delighted to offer our customers this highly competitive digital package which is superior in terms of value, functionality and content to other digital offerings in this market. The range of channels available is tailored specifically for the Irish market and the selection was based on findings obtained from extensive research conducted into Irish customers' requirements and needs. Our efforts are now focused on expanding the availability of this exciting new service to more homes within our franchise areas."
Front Row, ntl's on-demand movie and events service is an important feature of ntl's digital package and will give viewers access to recently released movies up to six months before they appear on premium movie channels. Viewers can watch a 15-minute preview before making the decision to purchase a movie, which will be shown throughout the day. At a cost of £3 per movie, without having to leave the comfort of your home, this represents great value for ntl's digital customers.
ntl's digital television service also includes an innovative Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) which enables customers to tailor their viewing in accordance with their own taste. In addition, the EPG offers content control functionality such as the parental lock and it even enables users to pre programme all of their viewing for up to a week in advance. (CD)
