ITN and Sony create a different approach to digital asset management

ITN and Sony have announced the creation of a radically different approach to digital asset management.
The two companies – working together with automation specialist IBIS - are creating a revolutionary new internet-based access system that will provide desktop access to nearly 700,000 hours of footage. This footage is managed by ITN Archive, one of the world’s largest commercial collections of moving imagery.
The new system will ensure all ITN Archive’s most popular content is digitised, at both on-line and broadcast quality. The system will allow visitors to go to www.itnarchive.com to view, select and order material, and to decide between delivery by tape or a range of digital options.
Customers will be able to source content right at their PC, via the internet, thereby opening up a much wider, international market. The ability to complete fulfillment on-line will avoid the often prohibitively high cost of using satellite feeds for fulfillment when time is of the essence. (CD/CL)
