HTV CHOOSE KALYPSO IN MOVE TO DIGITAL
HTV Wales have ordered a new Grass Valley Group Kalypso Video Production Centre as part of a major digital upgrade to one of their Cardiff studios used for news and sports programming.
HTV Wales’ Head of Studio Operations Mike Bryan said: “We have worked with Grass Valley vision mixers for 15 years now and have always found them reliable. The functionality of the system is very impressive. For our news requirements in particular, we need a powerful mix/effects (ME’s) architecture. The Kalypso can accommodate our need for 4 ME banks for news as well as giving a wide range of different keying levels.”
The Kalypsos architecture with built-in stills store reduce HTV’s need to install external equipment such as animation still stores and logo generators.
The installation will be carried out by HTV’s internal project team. The new facilities are expected to go to air later this year.
