BBC ORDERS THREE GVG KALYPSO UNITS

THE BBC have ordered three Grass Valley Group (GVG) Kalypso Video Production Centre units for their regional news operations in Leeds, Tunbridge Wells and London.
It is expected that the new units should be fully operational in London and Tunbridge Wells in early 2001 with the Leeds site scheduled to follow in 2002. The Kalypsos will be used in the production of nightly news bulletins in addition to a broad range of other news programmes throughout the day.
The Grass Valley Group say that the Kalypso video production centre offers everything needed for live video production. Dynamic router source selection can be performed directly from the panel, while groups of router destinations can be changed using Kalypso's R-MEM technology.
Key features of the GVG Kalypso include programmable clean feed for multi-client productions, a built-in device control for profile, SMS-7000 routers, DVEs, VTRs and built-in DVE with six channels of effects plus external DVE support. (GB)
