LCI chooses VertigoXmedia to enhance production of news graphics
VertigoXmedia has announced that LCI, the all-news channel affiliated with France's TF1, has purchased the Xmedia Suite and multiple VertigoCG graphics systems to enhance its news graphics production process.
With the added functionality provided by applications such as Xstudio, Xplay, and the Xmedia Server, LCI is now equipped to incorporate high-quality dynamic graphics into its news production with greater speed and accuracy.
"The move to Vertigo's Xmedia Suite will bring a new level of flexibility and creativity to our operations, allowing our staff to focus their resources on adding to the quality of graphics elements within each broadcast," said Herv Pavard, Technical Director at LCI. "We're confident that this turnkey graphics automation solution will enhance the quality and value of our on-air product."
Key applications in the Xmedia Suite, Xstudio and Xplay, offer users the ability to quickly create and air a wide variety of graphics for both regularly scheduled and breaking news stories. Xstudio allows users to create any number of templates for graphics that incorporate the layout, as well as links to data that is automatically updated immediately prior to the broadcast. Once created, copies of the templates (pages) can be created easily by anyone in the news graphics process. Operators use Xplay, the multidevice on-air controller, to create playlists of graphics, cue templates, make any last-minute changes, and send them to air across multiple channels. Xplay can also be directly controlled by automation for an even more streamlined solution. Xstudio and Xplay are connected to the Xmedia Server, Vertigo's centralised asset management server, that stores and manages all templates, images, clips, data, and other assets required in the workflow.
To complete the solution, LCI is also integrating five VertigoCG graphics systems into its news production workflow. The VertigoCG provides full-featured graphics rendering for stills, animations, clips, and data-driven tickers and crawls. Used in conjunction with other products in the Xmedia Suite, the VertigoCG will render a variety of news graphics such as lower-thirds, full-screen graphics, and tickers for LCI.
