BBC SCOTLAND SEEKS ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNS

A COMPETITION to design new Glasgow Headquarters for BBC Scotland at Pacific Quay will be launched later this month. It is planned that by the end of November six architects will be shortlisted.
The winning design will be chosen by a panel of BBC Personnel and members of the Scottish architectural and property communities.
BBC Scotland will be represented by Sir Robert Smith, Chair of the Broadcasting Council for Scotland, John McCormick, BBC Scotland Controller and May Miller the Editor of the arts programmes.
McCormick said the competition was an exciting step in the development of the Pacific Quay project.
It is hoped the work on the site will begin by spring 2002, with the move completed by 2004.
The move is dependant on the success of a planning application lodged by Scottish Enterprise Glasgow to build a four-lane road and a pedestrian access across the Clyde.
