Megahertz installs a new console for BBC
UK system integrator Megahertz Broadcast Systems is refurbishing a Digital Sound Vehicle for the BBC by installing a new console and technical infrastructure.
The 13m double expanding side vehicle has been in service since 1982 and is now on its third technical re-fit. Megahertz is installing a Studer D950 console and upgrading the power system to give it a new lease of life.
“The Studer D950 is well known to sound supervisors because the BBC has the same console in BBC Symphony Orchestra studio, Maida Vale 1,” said Stuart Collins, Resource Development Manager for BBC Radio Resources.
For this project, Megahertz is working against the clock as the truck is needed for BBC Radio 3’s annual coverage of The Proms – a task it has performed on many occasions in the past.
