EXTREME SPORTS CHANNEL ON AIR SOON

EXTREME Group, the UK-based extreme sports media production and distribution company, and UPCtv, the channel creation and broadcasting arm of European cable giant UPC, have teamed up to launch ‘Extreme Sports Channel’.
The new channel to be launched in October 2000 is available free of charge to digital satellite television subscribers. Youth orientated the channel is dedicated to extreme sports broadcasting 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
Stephen Cohen of UPCtv said: “Extreme sports are enjoying the fastest growth for sports in participation. They appeal particularly to the 15 – 30 year old market, a group of consumers who are notoriously difficult for advertisers to target accurately. The channel will be available in 14 countries across mainland Europe. Extreme Sports has already proved a runaway success, and we are confident of building significant audience share among this group during the first three months of broadcasting.”
Extreme Sports Channel is cleared for broadband and Internet broadcast, allowing the Extreme brand to reach its target audience across interactive platforms via a channel Internet portal at www.extreme.com.
The site at Extreme.com provides further information on how to access Extreme Sports Channel.
