SPIDER-EYE ENTICES VIEWERS TO STAY TUNED

SPIDER-EYE Ltd, leading 2D and 3D animation service in London have used Cambridge Animation Systems Animo software to create television commercials aimed at enticing channel surfers.
Spider-Eye produced ‘Tiger Tiger’ for their client Two Hands, Animo allowed animators to create multiple travelling mattes made from monochrome watercolour paintings and apply them to pre-rendered film clips.
Spider-Eye also produced two 30-second commercials for Richard Purdum Productions titled ‘Stirry’ and ‘Freezing’. Other clients include Vida En Marte and Pizzaz.
Animo was used to scan, paint and composite 2D animation with 3D footage, with up to 50 levels of animation. The software allowed for global colour model changes and numerous “reshoots” throughout production.
Before running the animation through PhotoShop filters, Animo was used to batch process all of the artwork.
Animators achieved ‘Manga-style’ 2D animation with the use of shadow and highlight matte runs in Animo. Some scenes incorporated a 3D background where the animation was drawn to rotoprints and the final artwork was composited on top of a rendered 3D sequence.
Animo allowed Spider-Eye to meet advertising agency requirements by providing a finished composited version as well as the constituent parts and matte and colour runs for re-compositing.
