Darlow Smithson expands production team

The expansion of multi-award winning indie Darlow Smithson Productions’ (DSP) senior production team continues with the appointment of RTS award-winner, former Head of Programmes at Folio Productions and Mentorn Executive Producer Paul Wooding, and the internal-promotion of DSP’s Ben Bowie, who both become Executive Producers.
A former BBC executive, factual specialist Paul Wooding is a celebrated documentary-maker who has worked for some of the UK’s leading indies including Lion Television, Folio Productions and Barraclough Carey, as well as working across a huge raft of genres as director, producer and editor at the BBC. He has also produced extensively for all five terrestrial channels and international broadcasters including Discovery, ABC, CBS and PBS. Respected for his creativity, versatility and passion, Wooding will be working on DSP’s latest series commission for Channel 4 and Discovery when he takes up his new position on March 27.
Before joining DSP in 2003, Ben Bowie spent ten years as a freelance director and producer, working on a variety of projects for a number of broadcasters including Channel 4, PBS, Discovery and the BBC. With a strong pedigree in science docs, Ben’s career at DSP includes the award-winning ‘How the Twin Towers Collapsed’ (Channel 4, TLC), the ambitious ‘World's First Time Machine’ (Channel 4, TLC), as well as writing and directing the critically acclaimed two-hour documentary ‘World’s Biggest Airliner: Building the Airbus A380’ (Channel 4, TLC). Bowie’s first project in his new role will be as Executive Producer of top rating NGC and NGCI series ‘Seconds From Disaster’.
Tom Brisley, Head of Factual, Darlow Smithson Productions, said: “Both appointments reinforce DSP’s reputation for attracting the best factual talent in television. Paul and Ben both bring with them a variety of skills, expertise and knowledge across a broad range of factual programming, and we look forward to using their talent to continue producing innovative factual programmes at the cutting-edge. We are genuinely thrilled to welcome them aboard.”
