Granada International to sell BBC One Drama ‘The Impressionists’

Leading television distributor, Granada International has been appointed to broker the international sales for a brand new BBC One factual drama series ‘The Impressionists’.
Launching at MIP-TV 2006, the 3 x 60‚series will bring to the screen for the very first time, an intimate history of a most illustrious brotherhood of artists Monet, Degas, Renoir, Cézanne and Manet. Entirely based on documentary evidence, special effects transport the viewer inside some of the world‚s best-loved paintings, The Impressionists will recreate the illuminated landscapes, and haunting portraits of late 19th-century France.
It is hard to imagine how shocking the work of ‘The Impressionists’ was when it first appeared. How the friends and rivals struggled to survive in a world that rejected their new way of painting as heretic. ‘The Impressionists’ is a fascinating insight into the lives and loves of these revolutionaries and their masterpieces, during a tempestuous period in history.
The series will be available in Spring 2006 and will be launched at MIP-TV 2006.
