MEDIA Programme grants over €2 million to Irish companies

Irish film and television companies received in excess of €2 million euro in EU finance from the MEDIA programme in 2002.
The 14 Irish film and television companies, including Tyrone Productions, were awarded €1.07 million in development financing.
Siún Ní Raghallaigh, Chief Executive of Tyrone Productions, said: "The Media Slate Funding awarded to Tyrone Productions has enabled us to significantly invest in the further development of our drama production, and to diversify into documentary with the development of a slate of projects with international appeal.
"This funding, which endorses the quality of our slate of projects, draws us closer to our longer term goal of creating an Irish based international media company which produces and distributes entertainment, drama and documentary/factual programming."
Siobhan O'Donoghue, of MEDIA Desk Ireland added: "The €2.13 million injection into Ireland represents a record result and underpins the key role of European MEDIA funding for the Irish Film and Television Sector."
