Picture Canning joins the ‘Dream Team’

Production company Hewland International turned to broadcast facilities specialists Picture Canning Company for the ninth series of 'Dream Team', the highly successful drama series created for Sky Television.
Dream Team has won many prestigious awards since premiering on Sky One in October 1997.
Picture Canning was given the task of providing ultra reliable solutions to Hewland for what is a continuous and high pressure production schedule on location.
“To maintain a bomb proof facility for this production we virtually went back to our roots and avoided anything that might not have been fully tried and tested for reliability and the result so far has been very good,” said Picture Canning Company Director Phil Wade.
Following the ups and downs of premiership football club Harchester United, Dream Team is the original and best football drama, with a bevy of stars, glamour and scandal to boot. Filmed at Millwall's ground The Den and Three Mills Studios in Bromley by Bow, the show successfully recreates the feel of the Saturday footie match. So much so that as well as their real-life favourite team, many Dream Team fans hold Harchester United in high regard too.
The equipment supplied includes lightweight, portable camera systems with extensive redundancy and multiple options for monitoring. Also supplied were two innovative DOP boxes, which are SDHD compatible, light and portable and built entirely from scratch by Picture Canning. As well as the equipment, the company provides constant monitoring and servicing to ensure the total reliability of the kit, which will be in constant use for the next nine months.
Dream Team Line Producer Don Douglas said: “Picture Canning are supplying all of our camera equipment needs for two units for series IX of Dream Team. This includes a camera assistant & one trainee per unit, a total of four staff. The kit is good and so far very reliable. The crews are good at their jobs and have a good attitude when fitting in with our freelance staff. On top of this it all fits within my budget - plus Phil & Leslie are just good honest people to deal with.”
