HD power from IDX batteries

One difference in switching to HD equipment is that the cameras draw more power.
IDX Lithium-Ion batteries have always offered high capacities in a compact lightweight package. Now the new range provides increased capacities, and therefore longer run times, which is good new for both SD and HD users.
For the ENDURA range the new V-Mount batteries, the E-10 and E-10S (single) both offer 98Wh capacity, and the E-7 and E-7S (both 71Wh). For each this represents a 20 percent increase for no change in size from the previous battery cases. This is achieved while continuing the IDX policy of keeping within the IATA limits for the easy carriage of multiple Lithium-Ion based batteries.
For double the capacity and power IDX’s PowerLink allows live docking of E-10 and E-7 batteries. In addition, the new NP-L7 and NP-L7S batteries offer 71Wh within standard NP casing.
Higher capacity batteries require more charging. For this IDX introduced the VL-4S charger at NAB. This is like four chargers in one - providing true simultaneous charging so that each battery has its own optimal regime allowing fast turnaround for high capacity batteries. Now the VL-4Si is being introduced that adds a display of battery management data. As with the VL-4S, an expanded version enables charging of four additional batteries, and with the VL-4Si this is also discharging and the relay of full Battery Management System (BMS) data to a PC.
