da Vinci debuts upgrades to 2K Plus with new 2K Elite Series

da Vinci Systems has announced the release of a new series of upgrades for its Emmy Award-winning 2K image enhancement system.
Available for new and existing 2K Plus users, options in the new 2K Elite series provide three distinct upgrade packages including creative panel designs that promote instant recognition. The 2K Ruby, 2K Sapphire, and 2K Emerald systems combine the functionality of da Vinci's PowerWindows with a combination of other popular features to provide post houses with a superb toolset for finishing feature films, advertising spots, television shows, and other programming.
"While much of our recent efforts have focused on upgrades to our Resolve non-linear colour enhancement system, we've been hard at work improving our 2K Plus system as well," said Bill Robertson, da Vinci's General Manager. "The new Elite series uses the easily recognisable imagery of precious gems to visually denote each system's packaged capabilities, providing a consistent standard to facilitate easier comparison between studios - and to give the market leaders who bring these top-of-the-line systems on board unsurpassed toolsets that allow them to stylise their work and differentiate themselves from their competition. With Vector Plus, Defocus, four Power Tiers, and Colorist Toolbox, the 2K Emerald represents the most powerful colour corrector available on the market today."
All three Elite-series 2K Plus systems are packaged with a collection of da Vinci's most popular features. Vector Plus provides True Gamma, enhanced key functionality, and overlapping vectors with additive adjustment of luminance and colour. Defocus, which includes its own PowerWindow and specialised colour processing channel, allows users to control depth of field and apply popular soft light and glow effects for all image resolutions. The Colorist Toolbox complements 2K Defocus to provide four Power Vectors that combine the selectivity of Supervectors with added matte defocus, two additional channels of Defocus and colour enhancement, local PowerWindows, and special effects filters including noise, silk, and fog effects.
While all 2K Elite models are powered by Vector Plus, Defocus, and Colorist Toolbox, what differentiates the three 2K Elite models is the number of Power Tiers, each of which adds two independent image processing channels with combined PowerWindow and Supervector qualifiers that extend colour processing. The 2K Ruby is packaged with two Power Tiers, while the 2K Sapphire has three, and the 2K Emerald features four, providing a total of 14 channels.
