Quantel Supports Silicon Imaging SI-2K Camera

A developer of high performance content creation and delivery systems across post, broadcast and DI has announced a new development.
The V4.1 Rev7 software for Pablo, iQ and eQ includes native support for the CineForm RAW files produced by the Silicon Imaging SI-2K camera.
This innovation, headed by Quantel, is said to open up the 'power of their workflow' to projects shot on the SI-2K camera, as used on Slumdog Millionaire.
Quantel Director of Marketing, Steve Owen commented: "Our customers are working on an ever-increasing number of projects that have been digitally captured. More and more of those customers have asked us to help them build an efficient post-production pipeline for SI-2K shot material.
"Our new development includes CineForm compression and its Active Metadata workflow, making it fast and easy to work on SI shot projects."
David Taylor, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Cineform added: "CineForm RAW was the industry's first compressed raw format and quickly earned a reputation as the solution in the industry for extremely high image quality.
"This partnership represents a significant win for Quantel and Silicon Imaging customers alike.
"We share a common vision of quality throughout the workflow and with this new development, customers are now assured that source image quality is maintained, from camera through post production to the finished project," he said.
