MVI Post selects da Vinci's 2K Plus

Da Vinci Systems has announced that MVI Post, a digital post-production facility located just outside Washington, DC, has recently completed its transition to high definition with upgrades that include the addition of a 2K Plus suite with Colorist Toolbox.
Replacing da Vinci's venerable Renaissance DUI 888 standard definition colour corrector, the 2K Plus suite has provided MVI Post with a vast array of new features that complement its high-definition capabilities.
"While the DUI 888 has served us well, there is no comparison to the new 2K Plus," said Frank Maniglia, Jr., Senior Editor and Director of Photography at MVI Post. "With the 2K Plus, one's imagination is the only limitation. As far as I'm concerned, the more bells and whistles a colour enhancement system has, the happier I am. By taking advantage of the 2K Plus' powerful Colorist Toolbox, Power Tier, Defocus, and Power Grade features, we can now do an almost unlimited amount of effects."
With the 2K Plus, MVI Post Colorist Greg Conners is able to leverage several optional features, starting with a Power Tier that adds two more channels of image processing. Each channel has its own PowerWindow in circular and quadrilateral shapes and Supervector qualifier for hue, saturation, and luminance. Defocus, which also includes its own PowerWindow and specialised colour processing channel, enhances control over depth of field and enables users to apply popular soft light and glow effects for all image resolutions.
The Colorist Toolbox works with Defocus to provide four additional enhanced PowerVectors, each with key defocus, inside/outside colour enhancement and PowerWindows, and special effects filters including additional defocus and fog effects.
"The best part of the Colorist Toolbox is that you can make hundreds of variations on the preset effects that it includes," added Maniglia. "Each one can be adjusted in numerous ways, and with Power Grade you can store those effects and make them available for other sessions or colorists."
Power Grade is a standard feature of the 2K Plus system that allows users to recall stored image styles and effects easily.
