Landmark continues 'Real Wife Swap' success for five
Fast-growing regional television production company Landmark Films has been commissioned to make a second series of the popular five show, 'Real Wife Swap'.
Five’s Acting Controller of Science, Peter Grimsdale, commissioned Landmark Films to make 3 x 50’ programmes, following the phenomenal success of the first series, which achieved five’s highest audience share for a documentary series in 2004.
The programme looks at the manners and mores of middle England swinging – possibly the only parties where you can still get cheese and pineapple cubes on cocktail sticks – and provides an insightful and refreshing look at the increasingly popular phenomena of wife-swapping. This new series will challenge the stereotypical image of the sex obsessed and seedy, revealing a civilized bunch of dog-walking and tea-drinking members of the chattering classes.
This commission for five follows a raft of acclaimed productions by Landmark Films, including 'Beauty School' for Sky One and 'The Most Pampered Pets' for ITV1.
Nick O'Dwyer, Managing Director of Landmark Films, said: “Here at Landmark we are all very proud of the success of the first series and are excited to be working with Five again on this great new commission. Real Wife Swap is classic Landmark territory and has been very well-received. We’re very pleased our reputation for distinctive film-making is growing, fuelling both our expansion in factual programming and our drive into science and history programming.”
All three films will be produced by Jennifer Beamish, directed by Paul Kittel and exec produced by Nick O’Dwyer.
