FIVE SCOTTISH FILMS NOMINATED FOR BIFA’S

THE nominations for this year's British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) have been announced and three films which shot in Glasgow recently have garnered five nominations.
In the category of ‘Best Achievement in Production’, Hart Ryan's ‘Gas Attack’ and Ideal World Films' ‘Late Night Shopping’ have each received a nomination. ‘Late Night Shopping's’ director, Saul Metzstein, picked up a nomination for the Douglas Hickox Award for debut directors.
Kate Ashfield, who played Jody in ‘Late Night Shopping’, has been given a nomination as ‘Best Actress’ for the role. ‘DNA's Beautiful Creatures’, which filmed in Glasgow in 1999, has been nominated in the same category with Susan Lynch receiving the kudos.
The writer/director team of Paul Laverty and Ken Loach received nominations in their respective categories for ‘Bread & Roses’. Loach and Laverty are currently filming the third installment of their Glasgow trilogy, ‘Sweet 16’, in the Greenock area.
The BIFA’s will take place at the Park Lane Hotel in London on October 24. (CD)
