Quantel doubles iQ success at Lipsync Post
Quantel has won an order from Soho-based Lipsync Post for a second iQ system – only 15 months after delivering the first.
The two iQ systems are at the core of two stylish, purpose-built digital intermediate (DI) suites costing almost £3 million.
“The iQ is more versatile than any other DI system on the market, and its impressive speed and capacity is enabling us to win a constant stream of DI work,” said Alasdair MacCuish, Lipsync’s Head of Digital Lab. “Our first iQ system was already in such great demand that we decided to bring forward our installation of a second iQ. Our clients are realising that the power of the iQ – especially its ability to work interactively with 2K formats – offers them great value for money.”
The first iQ was at the heart of the company’s reputation-building effects and colour grading work on key scenes from ‘Ladies in Lavender’, the first film directed by Charles Dance, who also wrote the screenplay. Lipsync’s iQ was also behind most of the post production work on Dan Films’ horror movie ‘Creep’, due for UK release on January 28 2005.
Lipsync’s schedule of forthcoming work ensures that both suites will be busy until mid-2005. The second iQ will handle all of the DI requirements of Vincent Ward’s ‘River Queen’ and Nu Image’s 6,000-cut action film ‘The Enemy Within’, starring Steven Seagal. It will also play a leading role in the colour grading of the John Boorman-directed Samuel Jackson film ‘In My Country’, and of Julian Fellowes’ adaptation of the PG Woodhouse novel ‘Piccadilly Jim’.
Both iQ suites offer 5.1 surround sound and large-screen, high-resolution projection with Truelight calibration.
