Moving Picture Company choose Quantel iQ

The Moving Picture Company (MPC), one of Europe’s leading facility houses and digital film effects pioneers, have purchased a top-of-the-range Quantel iQ digital film system.
The iQ will form the backbone of the new digital film laboratory MPC are setting up at their futuristic Soho headquarters.
The system comprises an iQ, capable of realtime 2k operation with 90 minutes of 2k workspace, and configured with the new QColor in-context colour grading option. The system also includes an iO-for-iQ workstation, also configured with 90 minutes of 2k workspace, and Quantel’s QScribe titling and QPaintbox software packages to run on PCs networked with the iQ and iO-for-iQ.
The iQ and iO-for-iQ workspaces are switchable between the two systems within seconds via a fibre patch panel. This means that while the iQ is carrying out front-end creative work and grading, the iO-for-iQ is working away in the background handling input and output, material preparation and conforms. Both the iQ and iO-for-iQ are also networked with the QScribe and QPaintbox PCs for title creation and retouch work.
The result is a digital intermediate system capable of massively parallel operation, enabling MPC to deliver highest quality results at incredible speed.
