Scrub installs UK's first Digidesign ICON at Resolution

Resolution, the D'Arblay Street Facility known for its work on location based series such as 'Big Brother', 'Fame Academy', 'Wife Swap' and 'Top Gear', is making use of the UK's first Digidesign ICON DControl console, supplied and installed by Scrub.
Impressed by the new console after a brief demonstration at NAB 2004, Resolution Director and BAFTA-nominated dubbing mixer Dan Gable has been a regular visitor over recent months to Scrub, the UK's only high-level ICON dealer.
"I needed to be sure that the ergonomics were right and that the console was all it was cracked up to be," said Gable. "The guys at Scrub couldn't have been more helpful and were happy for me to spend as much time as I needed in their demo room, getting comfortable with the DControl way of working."
Suitably impressed, a date was set for a particularly challenging DControl installation. "Resolution's flagship Audio 1 Suite is always booked solid, so the studio had to be decommissioned, re-wired and re-commissioned as an ICON suite, all in the space of a weekend," said Scrub Director of Sales Ben Nemes. "Work commenced on Friday night and by Monday morning the new studio was fully operational, thanks to the hard work of a team that included Scrub Project Specialist Niels Stevens, Digidesign ICON specialist Rich Holmes, Kelsey Acoustics, Michael Whiteside and wiring specialist Alek Hawkin."
The new Audio 1 suite is now based around a 16 Fader D-Control tactile work surface with producer's desk, integrated with a Pro Tools|HD Accel system, one of four Pro Tools systems at Resolution recently upgraded to HD Accel by Scrub.
The ICON allows for recording, processing, mixing, editing and delivery of audio, together with integrated video.
Gable added: "ICON is a big step forward in terms of functionality and ergonomics and installing it was quick and straightforward, which is important for a busy facility."
Based in Soho, Scrub is a specialist division of leading pro-audio equipment supplier HHB Communications, addressing the specific audio technology requirements of the postproduction sector and focusing primarily on the supply and support of Digidesign systems and peripherals.
