BBC INVITE INCITE TO PROVIDE A NON-LINEAR EDITOR

INCITE have been invited by the BBC to provide a Non-Linear Editor with Advanced Authoring Format (AAF) import for the Kingwood Warren Research Department.
INCITE Editor successfully imported timelines and source essences, in AAF format, from the BBC’s ORBIT system.
The ORBIT system demonstrates how inexpensive IT equipment can perform the majority of broadcast production processes currently requiring expensive specialised equipment. A major benefit of an IT-based system is that the storage and manipulation of metadata, descriptive information, and program essence, the audio and the video, can be tightly linked, to give greatly improved efficiency in the management of media assets.
Broadcasting. Several Incite systems are already operational in the BBC and across the world.
AAF allows exchange of the more comprehensive metadata required in program production and is thus a vital step towards the implementation of the Media Exchange Format is proposed to SMPTE by the AAF Association and the Pro – MPEG Forum, G – FORS is a contributor to the Pro–MPEG Forum.
MXF carries a sub-set of the AAF metadata providing a more efficient method for content creators to exchange digital content. It too works across different platforms, and between different systems and applications. The MXF takes advantage of the SMPTE re-coding data set and MOLET technologies, which allow unlimited MPEG 2 decode-coding passage without content degradation. (CD)
