SysMedia licenses JAME Author

SysMedia has announced that it has licensed JAME Author from the Fraunhofer Institute for Media Communication IMK for sale on a global basis.
This strategic step enables SysMedia to broaden its offering into the enhanced television space by facilitating the creation of MHP-based interactive content, complementing its existing solutions for the 24/7 digital teletext MHP market. The new product is targeted at production and postproduction companies, as well as other media professionals, who are aiming to expand their reach into this growing market.
This announcement follows on from the previous SysMedia-Fraunhofer IMK deal that has seen the integration of Fraunhofer IMK's JAME Application Framework with SysMedia's PLASMA MAGENTA content management technology for use in the MHP digital interactive TV and teletext markets.
JAME Author is a complete MHP Authoring System for creating enhanced TV services. It combines the reliability and flexibility inherent in the JAME family with the advantages of an easy-to-use authoring tool. It allows users to define the design and behaviour of separate pages and connect them to an iTV service by an inter-page navigation structure. JAME Author includes features that are well-known from other graphics tools as well as special TV/MHP-related functions that help accelerate this process. This simplified content creation scenario allows the user to concentrate on developing the best viewing experience possible rather than having to devote precious time to complex coding.
Heike Fischer, Project Manager within the Competence Centre ITV with IMK, said: "Once designs are finished, JAME Author produces an archive at the completion of a project when a content creator simply presses the compile button. This means that the interactive content pages are transcoded into the JAME optimised format and ensures that the archive produced is completely broadcast-ready. This is then delivered to the MHP distribution system and the MHP object carousel will then transmit the content to the set-top box upon demand."
Colin Prior, Business Development Director, SysMedia, added: "While the MHP market is still in its early stages, it is clearly taking off and there are plans for the rollout of systems in many parts of Europe. SysMedia's licensing of JAME Author adds significantly to our already strong presence in this market and will facilitate the creation of MHP-ready content."
