BRITSHORTS TEAM UP WITH NIKE

BRITSHORTS have teamed up with Nike for their First Annual Young Director Award 2001.
Budding filmmakers are being asked to consider the vital theme of Sport, which has inspired film directors for decades. From ‘Raging Bull’ to ‘Chariots of Fire’, film directors have searched for inspiration within this populist arena.
The organisers of the Nike Young Directors Award are accepting treatments and scripts for a 180-second digital film on sport. Three winners will each receive a UKP6,000 award from Nike to make their treatment into a three-minute film.
Each film will then be screened at The Ritzy in Brixton, London, on October 16 2001 where a specially selected judging panel will place them in a merit order of Gold, Sliver, and Bronze. There will also be a special award to be decided on the night by an audience vote.
The Gold Award winner will have their film exhibited by Zoo cinemas, www.britshorts.com and NikeTown London. They will also get the opportunity to spend five days at the Nike European Film and Video division in Amsterdam.
Each filmmaker will also receive a distribution deal with Britshorts to get their short out into the world of film.
All treatments must be submitted by July 30, with the three best scripts being selected for funding.
Along with £6,000 each filmmaker will have six weeks of expert advice from Britshorts to ensure that the films are produced to the best possible standards.
For the complete list of rules and regulations please visit their website at www.britshorts.com.
All treatments are to be submitted to the following address: Nike Young Directors Awards 2001, C/o Britshorts, 70 Brewers Street, London, W1F 9TT. (CD)
