Artificial Eye choose Cheerful Scout for DVD authoring

Cheerful Scout is to start work on the DVD authoring and menu design for the Artificial Eye title ‘At Five in the Afternoon’, directed by the acclaimed young Iranian director Samira Makhmalbaf.
This commission comes in the wake of Cheerful’s work on a number of other Artificial Eye World Cinema DVD titles over the past 12 months, including ‘Russian Ark’, voted one of the top UK DVD menu designs of 2003 by Televisual magazine.
In addition to their work on some of Artificial Eye’s new DVD titles, Cheerful Scout has also been heavily involved in the ongoing repackaging of Artificial Eye’s back catalogue onto DVD. In fact, while working on the DVD for At Five in the Afternoon, Cheerful Scout will simultaneously be completing the DVD for ‘The Apple’, Samira Mahkmalbaf’s first feature.
“Artificial Eye’s product has a certain longevity about it,” said Andrew Harvey, Cheerful Scout’s Head of DVD. “It’s collectable, and because of this, we always aim to bring out, or highlight, the essential feel or tone of the main feature while also making sure that our DVD menu designs have a classic quality about them that will stand the test of time.”
