Cheerful Scout complete 'The Best of 2DTV DVD'

In collaboration with the producers of 2DTV, Cheerful Scout have completed work on the DVD menus for 'The Best of 2DTV Uncut'.
The award winning topical British animation series, which features caricatures of celebrities, royals and politicians, has won much acclaim since it was first broadcast in October 2001 and is scheduled for release on DVD in November.
Featuring the classic 2DTV George Bush caricature saying ‘I can push the button’, the main menu was created especially for the DVD by the 2DTV animation team, and in typically satirical 2DTV style, leads to a tongue-in-cheek explosion on screen when the play button is selected. Cheerful Scout’s Peter Litten composited the elements provided by the 2DTV animators, as well as creating the menu buttons and adding a randomised feature to the menus whereby a series of characters and soundbites from the series appear randomly each time the main menu screen is opened.
There are three menus on the DVD: Play, Chapters (of which there are ten) and Extras. The Extras menu features a caricature of David Beckham kicking a ball around. When an Extra is selected, Beckham kicks the ball towards the relevant choice, and then the ball zooms into close-up before the selected option begins. While the 2DTV team created the David Beckham animation for the DVD, Cheerful Scout’s Peter Litten created the ball movements as an additional interactive feature.
As well as the twelve episodes from the series (each of which features approximately ten sketches), the DVD features numerous Extras including interviews with voice-over artists, previously unseen sketches, behind scenes footage and a pilot.
The Best of 2DTV Uncut is scheduled for release on November 25 2002 by the Contender Entertainment Group.
