St. Anne’s Post complete postproduction on ‘Omagh’

St. Anne’s Post completed the postproduction on ‘Omagh’, produced by Ed Guiney and Paul Greengrass, executive produced by Paul Greengrass and Greg Brenman, directed by Pete Travis and shown recently on Channel 4.
Written by Guy Hibbert and Paul Greengrass, Omagh is a feature-length drama examining the bombing of the town by the Real IRA on August 15 1998, and the lasting aftermath felt by the bereft families of the 31 victims. Based on unflinching first-hand research, and with the cooperation of and consultation with The Omagh Support and Self Help Group, the drama chronicles the unresolved search for the perpetrators of the bombing and the persistent struggle of those families whose need for a full and honest examination of the tragedy has never been met.
The postproduction of Omagh was completed at St. Anne’s Post, with St. Anne’s Jamie Shemeld completing the on-line edit; Todd-AO Creative Services colourist Ray King grading and St. Anne’s Kevin Brazier and David Old completing the sound.
“The director Pete Travis was clear that he wanted to keep the audio for Omagh as real and as honest as possible.” said Kevin Brazier, Supervising Sound Editor. “To achieve this realism, we sent one of our staff to record sounds in the streets where the action took place. This included recording original voices in the area to ensure that the language and accents were correct.”
“We were creating deliverables for both TV and film distribution and so we had to make sure that the pictures were the best quality for both scenarios,” said Jamie Shemeld, on-line Editor at St. Anne’s. “This meant that we mastered in HD and then created separate on-lines in HD and SD for final delivery.” (HD Master later transferred to 35mm film).
