St Anne's Post Series Two of 'Robin Hood'

St Anne’s Post has recently completed the post work on Series 2 of Robin Hood.
Robin Hood, made by Tiger Aspect Productions, is an action packed adventure full of humour and romance.
The new 13-part series, once again written by Dominic Minghella, stars Jonas Armstrong as the cheeky hero Robin Hood, who defies and outwits the evil Sheriff of Nottingham (Keith Allen) with outrageous scams, disguises, tricks, ingenuity, breathtaking archery and swordplay.
Filming of the series took place in Budapest, Hungry where the forests of Sherwood and the rest of Nottingham were recreated. St. Anne’s then graded on the Pixi, tweaking the green hues to accentuate the lush and sun-dappled look needed for the forest scenes.
Sam Hollingdale, Colourist at St. Anne’s, added: “In one of the episodes, children are being chased through the forest by the Sheriff's men so we gradually cooled and darkened the scene, the deeper in the forest they were chased, to increase the tension. The weather helped as fog began to roll in as they shot the scene.
The castle of Nottingham was also graded to look dramatic and moody. A candlelit, deep-shadowed and menacing look was required as there were dungeons and war rooms within which sinister plots were unfolding. The entertaining rooms were warmed up and brightened with a general boost to give a contrast to the more light-hearted scenes.”
Dan Preston, Online Editor at St. Anne’s, said: “Robin Hood has been an extremely challenging and rewarding project to work on. With the cutting rooms and VFX house based in Budapest, clear communication and organisation have been key. As with Series 1, delivering the sound Dolby E encoded has proved anything but straight forward. The quality of the delivered pictures is simply fantastic (shooting true 1080 as opposed to 720p last series). And coupled with an average of 50 or so VFX shots per show the completed episodes look great. The kids are going to love it!"
Transmission of the 13 episode series started on Saturday October 6, 2007 on BBC1.
