OmniBus G3 wins award at Cable & Satellite International/Mediacast

Omnibus System' groundbreaking G3 technology was recently named as 'best broadcast automation/asset management solution' at the Cable & Satellite International/Mediacast awards in London.
A joint venture between the magazine and one of Europe's most important multimedia exhibitions, the Product of the Year Awards recognise excellence in broadcast technology, covering the best products and services announced or deployed during the last 18 months.
"These awards were fiercely contested once again but I believe the judges have picked out those technologies that warrant special praise," said John Moulding, editor of Cable and Satellite International.
"Congratulations to OmniBus Systems and everyone involved in the development of G3," added Moulding. "G3 won best automation/asset management solution based on criteria including technical innovation and the extent to which the market needs this type of product."
"Winning this prestigious award proves once again that OmniBus is consolidating its reputation not only for thought leadership but also for providing the type of scalable solutions broadcasters need to help them provide improved services in a cost-effective manner," said Greg Hoskin, OmniBus' senior VP, of strategic sales and marketing.
"G3 gives broadcasters the chance to manage the content flow through their entire operations, enables them to integrate the best-of-breed technologies from hardware and software manufacturers, and delivers a platform from which they can rise to the challenges that an ever-changing market will throw at them."
OmniBus G3 technology employs standard IT protocols and is based on an innovative "component ware" architecture, re-defining the entire process for creating new broadcast automation systems by shifting the emphasis from applications to specific tasks.
The Cable & Satellite International/Mediacast award is the second industry accolade OmniBus has picked up in recent weeks.
At NAB, the company won the 2004 Broadcast Engineering Excellence Award, Silver Level - Network Automation, presented "in recognition of technical innovation, quality design, and construction of Starz Encore".
OmniBus' Colossus multi-channel content delivery system manages the delivery of 36 fully-mirrored channels of pay-per-view movies. OmniBus is also managing media acquisition and providing global media and asset management.
