RTÉ Head of Television Sport resigns

RTÉ Television has accepted the resignation of its Head of Sport, Niall Cogley, to take effect immediately.
Cogley leaves the organisation after many years to accept a newly created position with Setanta.
In announcing acceptance of Cogley's resignation, Noel Curran, MD of RTÉ television, said: "We wish Niall every success in his new position. He has been a well-respected and highly valued colleague to all in RTÉ Television and in a particular way to those involved in sports.
“RTÉ's commitment to bringing the best and most comprehensive range of sports to our audience is second to none and will continue. During this year alone we will bring Irish viewers over 200 hours of Olympic Games and 75 hours of European Championships as well as the usual top-class coverage of GAA, soccer, rugby, horse racing, motor sports, golf and various other sports. RTÉ Television will remain the primary source of home and international sports news and coverage for people on the island of Ireland."
The position of RTÉ Television Head of Sport will be advertised immediately with a view to appointment later this summer.
