Irish Broadcaster Adds RTÉ Radio Player

The RTÉ Player, launched in 2009, has established itself as Ireland's premier on-demand service for programmes originally aired on RTÉ Television - with a similar radio service now being made available.
A total of 50 million TV programme streams have been viewed by 500,000 unique browsers since launch with the Player now a key channel for worldwide audiences to view RTÉ programmes with over 16% of programmes being viewed internationally.
Now, the RTÉ Radio Player is set to have a similar impact on how people listen to RTÉ Radio online and on mobile, at home and abroad.
A sister-service to the existing RTÉ Player, the new RTÉ Radio Player brings together all eleven RTÉ Radio stations, including RTÉ's seven digital stations, via instantaneous flash-based live access. The new Radio Player is available both online and as a mobile app. Users can listen live, catch up with what they may have missed and, in a new development of RTÉ Radio's digital experience, search and share radio content by item, date, presenter and programme.
Developed by RTÉ Digital, and designed by Arekibo, the project has been less than a year in development. The launch of the new RTÉ Radio Player, online and on mobile, is accompanied by a new look for the main RTÉ Radio homepage, as well as new liveries for the station websites.
Clare Duignan, Managing Director, RTÉ Radio said: "Digital technology has changed how people consume media, and as Ireland's leading multi-media organisation, RTÉ is continuously striving to bring the benefits of digital technology to our audiences.
"The RTÉ Player is among RTÉ's most successful recent products, and the RTÉ Radio Player is a natural progression in the development of RTÉ's on-demand services for audiences."
The service is free and available to users nationally and internationally. Users can download the RTÉ Radio Player mobile app, available for iPhone, iPad and Android. The online RTÉ Radio Player is available at: www.rte.ie/radio or: www.rte.ie/player
