Summer film scoring 'intensive' to be held in Edinburgh

The Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Program (PNWFS), in conjunction with Napier University, Edinburgh, have announced their inaugural two-week film summer intensive, which will be led by Hollywood composer, Hummie Mann.
The course, which will be held at Napier University’s Ian Tomlin’s School of Music, will run from August 23 – September 3 inclusive.
The Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Program provides in-depth training and industry insight for music composition students, composers as well as anyone interested or involved in the art of modern film scoring or movie production.
Founded in Seattle in 1997 by two-time Emmy Award-winning composer/arranger/conductor Hummie Mann, the program teaches the theory and methods for writing dramatic music for motion pictures, television programs and other video productions.
The PNWFS summer intensive runs for two weeks and is primarily for composers and musicians. However, the first week is open to anyone who is interested or involved in the filmmaking business, such as animators, directors, producers, screenplay writers and those with a general interest in film music. This course offers a wonderful opportunity to gain invaluable insight into the running and structure of the Hollywood filmmaking system from a two-time Emmy award winner, who is active and working in the industry on a day-to-day basis.
The European Intensive offers Film Scoring 1 and a specially combined version of Film Scoring 11/111, Applied Theory, MIDI and Cubase, ProTools and Sound Recording, Producing Orchestral Music with Sample Technology. The course, which runs during the Edinburgh International Festival, also offers accommodation and travel to and from Napier University if desired.
Further details of the course can be found on Pacific Northwest’s website at: www.pnwfilmmusic.com
