FILM SCHOOL IN WALES INTRODUCE MA COURSE IN FILM WORK

THE INTERNATIONAL Film School have introduced a full-time Masters course aimed at film work in fiction, faction, animation and non-genre.
The MA course runs for a calendar year January - December 2002, and the deadline for applications is December 1 2001.
It is a critical and innovative film production course to which entry is based upon a proposed film project or script.
The course aims to support and develop the skills required in the production of a completed short film directed at public exhibition.
The course is based upon film production with an option for applicants interested in pursuing theoretical and practical issues surrounding film archiving. The introductory term is based upon a common programme which focuses upon the critical issues of contemporary film production. Students develop a critical review of their own practice, base upon previous work and their current script proposal. Throughout the course students will work together on all aspects of the production of each other’s films.
Masterclasses in script development and directing are contained in modules related to pre-production. The final term of the course has no structured taught study programme. Students will be completing their dissertation and realising their final film. Tutorials throughout the course are by individual arrangement.
Candidates must be under 25 years of age and must hold one of the following qualifications: an initial degree awarded by the University of Wales or another approved university or college; a non-graduate qualification deemed by the University of Wales to be of a satisfactory standard for the purpose of postgraduate admission.
Candidates ages 25 or over who lack formal qualifications may apply for entry if they have held a position of responsibility within a relevant field for a minimum period of two years.
Following receipt of an application form, candidates may be invited to attend an interview. At the interview, the course requirements will be further clarified and staff will look for evidence of the commitment and ability necessary to complete the course satisfactorily. The course fees are £3000. (CD)
