Mexican Film Stars Travel To Schull Film Fest
Mexican film professionals, actress Diana Bracho and Iván Trujillo Bolio, General Director, Festival International de Cine, Guadalajara, are to contribute to this year’s ‘World Cinema’ Programme at the Corona Fastnet Short Film Festival, held in Schull from Wednesday 22 to Sunday 26 May. Ivan will present a two-hour selection of Latin America’s best short films to have passed through FICG since 2010. They will be screened at the Village Hall, Schull from 15.30 to 17.30 on Saturday 25 May.
Professor Nuala Finnegan Head of Hispanic Studies at UCC, will interview Ivan following the screening.
Cuban Blood (2003), directed by Juan Gerard, starring Diana Bracho and Harvey Keitel will be screened on Wednesday the 22nd of May at 8pm. Her very first major film, El Castillo de la Pureza will screen at 18.30 on Saturday 25 May and Professor Nuala Finnegan will interview Diana Bracho following the screening at 20.30.
Each year, over the last weekend in May, the now five‐day Festival plays host to in excess of 250 short films. All the short films entered into competition during the festival will be screened in as many different venues throughout the village as possible and will be available on the Festival's archive for Wi-Fi viewing on smart devices within the network of Schull.
This Short Film Festival without a Cinema invites film fans to explore alternatives throughout the village of Schull, from a horsebox (with HD streaming) to a micro cinema (with eye-piece), six marquees (with projector & screen), from a bookshop to the village hall (HD Projection) and to numerous local pubs and restaurants.
Schull’s network connects, through Ethernet cable and wireless, to its own short film archive on a dedicated server and anyone with a smartphone, laptop or iPad can access the server through Wi-Fi anywhere on the main street and watch any of the 5 years of submission films any time of the day or night.
The Festival is grant aided by Cork County Council, West Cork Development Partnership, Fáilte Ireland, Culture Ireland, The Irish Film Board and The Arts Council.
