5D ANNOUNCE AVAILABILITY OF NEW SOFTWARE

PIONEERING developers 5D have announced 5D Colossus, a new software-based, digital grading and finishing solution.
5D are working closely with colour grading experts Colorfront to bring this new system to market. Like all 5D tools it is designed to boost productivity and workflow by putting advanced tools at the disposal of digital artists and colourists.
Marc Dando, Director at 5D, said: “With 5D Colossus 5D is supporting moves by film post production houses across the world towards a ‘Digital Intermediate Process’, where the whole of the film post production process is digital, not just the effects. Directors and Directors of [MD1]Photography are calling for the ability to grade movies digitally, before their pictures go back to film, and this is exactly the area into which 5D Colossus fits. Our design goals have been to create a fast, high-quality system with a powerful toolset at an affordable price.”
5D Colossus is dedicated to making the grading of multiple scenes as fast and as efficient as possible.
The ultimate output from 5D Colossus is a high quality, graded digital master that can be used to prepare final film prints, in digital film projection, or for mastering to HD and SD video, DVD and the Internet.
Running on powerful workstations, it offers both log and linear grading for the first time and provides cinema-quality, interactive colour-correction. (CD)
