5D to unveil post strategy at NAB 2002

At NAB 2002 in Las Vegas 5D are to present the completion of their first phase strategy for post-production.
A rolling theatre demonstration, incorporating 5D Commander, 5D Cyborg and 5D Colossus, will feature actual job re-constructions to tell the story of how 5D products fit into and improve the workflow of film and high-end post-production.
5D Commander kicks off the demo. It is an amazingly flexible system that was initially designed for playback of digital dailies, and has been used on films such as 'Lord of the Rings', 'Black Hawk Down', 'Vanilla Sky' and 'A Beautiful Mind'. 5D will demonstrate dual link HSDL connectivity to an ITK Millennium Machine telecine and HD and SD video I/O, showing how 5D Commander fits perfectly into Film and HD workflows as a preview, capture and play-out system, working (as with all 5D systems) with everything from uncompressed SD to full aperture 2K material in real-time.
5D Cyborg is a high-end interactive effects system for Film, HD and Video compositing, used on films such as 'K:19' and 'The Sin Eater', as well as music video and television spots. Having seen the speed of 5D Cyborg for dealing with HD, many people have been asking how it will deal with episodic material; the answer will be clear at NAB.
5D will be launching and shipping the v2 feature set of their acclaimed 5D Cyborg. On show will be the complete range of effects and compositing tools including a full 3D environment with accurate camera model, amazingly interactive lighting model with up to 24 simultaneous lights, deformations and effects available on every layer. Also on show will be Distort, a brand new Warper which includes sophisticated morphing tools and Cyborg¹s new Timeline module showing Editing within the compositing pipeline for the simple management of complex effects and edits, keeping everything live and instantly changeable without the need for pre-rendering
5D Colossus has made huge waves in the industry since its announcement at IBC 2001. Used exclusively to grade and master Lord of the Rings, and currently in production on several other blockbuster movies, 5D Colossus has already revolutionised the film-grading world.
