TWO WAY TV ANNOUNCE AGREEMENT WITH MOTOROLA

MOTOROLA, Broadband Communications Sector and Two Way TV have announced a licensing agreement to integrate Two Way TV’s interactive infrared protocol technology into Motorola Broadband’s DVi digital set-top-box family.
The companies are entering into the licensing agreement to help ensure that European broadband network operators deploying these Motorola set-top-boxes can offer their customers Two Way TV’s enhanced interactive game shows and sporting events, which provide operators with an additional revenue source and means for improving customer satisfaction.
Two Way TV-enabled set-top-boxes make it fast and intuitive for subscribers to access interactive gaming and programming. To join in with a game show or program, viewers simply point their existing remote control or universal keyboard at the Motorola set-top-box and press the appropriate keys. Multi-player capability allows up to four players to interact with each other. The Two Way TV protocol in the set-top accurately identifies the response from the players’ remote/keyboards, recognizing which player is responding to each question or challenge.
Matthew Tims, Two Way TV’s Managing Director, said: “As one of the leading developers of interactive TV systems, our goal is to get viewers all over the world playing along with their favourite game shows and sporting events. Of course, that means first getting set-top-boxes that are equipped to handle such a high level of interaction into as many homes as possible. This agreement with Motorola helps accomplish just that.” (CD)
