SGRIN ARRANGE FOCUS ON INTERACTIVE CONFERENCE
SGRÎN, the Media Agency for Wales, have arranged a one-day conference focusing on new media for web and television.
The day’s programme, on October 17 at Cardiff Bay, will provide an excellent opportunity for producers of ‘traditional’ and new media to gain an insight into the current and future demand for web, enhanced and interactive media.
Delegates attending Focus on Interactive will be urged to make the most of their creative ideas and concepts, and encouraged to partner with other companies who can help them exploit their projects to the utmost.
Linda Harpwood, Co-ordinator of New Media Group Wales at Sgrîn, said: “I hope that Welsh companies will come along and make the most of this conference. I’m encouraging delegates to input into the day’s content, and hope there’ll be a lively dialogue throughout. I also hope the conference will enthuse and inspire the audience, whilst at the same time provide a realistic view of what the demands are for new media content so that companies can plan accordingly. It’ll also be a good day for networking and meeting up with other companies from Wales with complimentary skills and talents”.
In addition to profiling the work of Welsh companies and organisations such as Kode, Trinity Mirror Digital, Sequence, Strategic-i, S4C and BBC Wales, there will be opportunities to learn about the experiences of Ijsfontein Creative from the Netherlands, as well as UKTV, C4 and YES Television.
Specialised sessions will also be held on various topics such as rights, training, and games. Again these sessions will feature the work of Welsh companies such as B-Dag, Blue Monkey, Cyfle and Boomerang, as well as Big River (Dublin) and Workhouse from Chichester.
Yes Television and Digital Impact will also be giving practical demonstrations of interactive technology on their exhibition stands.
Welsh Assembly Member Jenny Randerson will open the conference.
Sgrin say there has been such huge interest in this event, a room has been set aside especially for companies show and discuss their work informally. During Focus on Interactive the work of new media companies from Wales will be shown on the especially produced Wales New Media showcase.
Sgrîn are particularly pleased to acknowledge the support of the following companies – WDA (principal funders), S4C, Wales Trade International, TAC (main sponsors), and Barcud Derwen, Cyfle, Eclipse Creative, ITC, Sequence, The Sound Works and @ Wales.
The registration deadline is Friday, October 12, 2001. For further information about Focus on Interactive go to www.sgrin.co.uk/focusoninteractive. (CD)
