Sumners Content, the Manchester-based television and video production facility, has beaten stiff opposition to win a UFI/learndirect contract to produce the latest promotional video for its ‘Skills for Life’ course.
The ten-minute video is a critical part of the integrated marketing campaign aimed at encouraging adults to join the learndirect course to improve their basic numeracy and literacy skills.
For the video, Sumners captured various learndirect learners talking about their experiences of the course and how it has affected their lives. These vox-pops are punctuated with short acted pieces depicting everyday occurrences where basic skills shortages become apparent.
“This was a difficult project because our target audience needed to be addressed with sensitivity. Sumners was very flexible with its creative ideas and showed a thorough understanding of the brief,” said Martin Hinchliffe, brand manager for learndirect.
“The hands-on approach from the production team suited us perfectly and of course Sumners has a solid reputation for providing high quality content in corporate communications. We are already enjoying great results from the campaign with several hundreds being despatched weekly to the interested public.”

Bombarding the target audience with literature was not an option and this project adds weight to my argument that high visual impact content offers more opportunities to impress.”
